General questions
What areas do you serve?
We serve Fairview, Dickson, Waverly, Charlotte and Bon Aqua, TN, plus everything within roughly a 40-mile radius of Dickson — including Burns, White Bluff, Kingston Springs, Pegram, Centerville, McEwen and Vanleer.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. BLC Construction & Home Repair is fully licensed and insured in the state of Tennessee. We are happy to provide proof of insurance before work begins.
How much experience do you have?
Over 25 years of home improvement and construction experience across remodeling, structural repair, exterior work and dirt work.
Do you charge for estimates?
No. Estimates are free, and we come to your property at a time that is convenient for you.
How quickly can you start?
Small repairs can often be scheduled within days. Larger remodels depend on the current schedule and material lead times — call (931) 209-0469 and we will give you an honest timeline.
Is any job too small?
No job is too big or too small. We do single-day repairs as readily as whole-home renovations.
How do you handle pricing and change orders?
You receive a written, itemized estimate before work starts, and we keep you updated on costs and progress throughout. Nothing that changes the price happens without your approval.
Do you work on commercial property?
Yes. We handle commercial painting, flooring and general repair work for offices, restaurants, rentals and apartment buildings.
Can you fix structural or termite damage?
Yes. We have replaced main trusses, leveled sagging rooms, sistered joists and repaired termite and water damage in Middle Tennessee homes.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Payment terms are set out in your written estimate, typically with a deposit and progress payments tied to milestones. Call us to discuss what works for your project.
Home Remodeling
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes. Estimates are free and we come to your home at a time that works for you, including early mornings before the workday.
How long does a typical remodel take?
A bathroom often runs one to three weeks, a kitchen three to six, and a full addition longer depending on permitting and weather. We give you a schedule in writing with your estimate.
Is any job too small?
No. We handle single-day repairs as readily as whole-home renovations.
Kitchen Remodeling
Can I use my kitchen during the remodel?
Usually in part. We sequence demolition and installation to keep a working sink and refrigerator available as long as possible, and we tell you up front which days will be without them.
Do you handle plumbing and electrical?
Yes — through our team and licensed trade partners, permitted where the work requires it.
Can you match existing cabinets?
Often yes, for additions or repairs. We will be honest when a match is not realistic instead of installing something that looks off.
Bathroom Remodeling
How long is a bathroom remodel?
Most take one to three weeks depending on tile work and fixture lead times.
Will you connect new fixtures to my existing plumbing?
Yes. We tie new plumbing fixtures into your current system and test everything before we call the job finished.
Can you fix water damage you find behind the walls?
Yes, and we will show you photos and a written cost before we proceed with anything unexpected.
Flooring Installation
Do you remove the old flooring?
Yes, including haul-away and disposal, quoted in the estimate.
Which flooring is best with pets and kids?
Luxury vinyl plank and porcelain tile hold up best. Engineered hardwood is a good middle ground when you want real wood.
Can you refinish existing hardwood instead?
If the wear layer is thick enough, refinishing is often cheaper than replacement. We will check and tell you.
Custom Tile Work
Can you tile over existing tile?
Sometimes, when the substrate is sound and height allows. We will assess it on site.
How long does a backsplash take?
Most kitchen backsplashes are set one day and grouted the next.
Painting Services
How long does exterior paint last here?
With proper prep and a quality product, typically 8 to 12 years on siding and longer on properly prepared brick.
Do you paint occupied homes?
Yes, room by room, with daily cleanup so your household keeps functioning.
Home Additions
Do you handle permits?
Yes, we pull the permits the work requires and coordinate inspections.
How disruptive is an addition?
Most of the work happens outside the existing envelope. We only open the wall between old and new near the end of the project.
Retaining Wall Installation
How tall can a wall be?
Beyond roughly four feet, most jurisdictions expect engineering. We build to code and bring in an engineer when height or surcharge requires it.
Can a wall solve my drainage problem?
Sometimes. Often it is paired with grading and a French drain. We look at the whole water path, not just one spot.
Stump Removal
Do you haul away the grindings?
Yes, or we can leave them as mulch if you would like — your call.
How soon can I plant grass there?
Once grindings are removed and topsoil is placed, immediately.
Yard Leveling & Dirt Work
Will heavy equipment tear up my yard?
We use the right size machine for the job, work when ground conditions allow, and repair any track marks as part of the price.
Do you haul in dirt?
Yes — fill dirt, topsoil and gravel are all included in the estimate when needed.
Asphalt Sealcoating
How often should I sealcoat?
Most driveways and light-traffic lots do well on a two-to-three-year cycle. Heavy-traffic commercial lots may need it sooner.
Can you sealcoat over cracks?
We fill cracks first. Sealer alone will not bridge an open crack — water will still get in and widen it over winter.
How long before I can drive on it?
Typically 24 to 48 hours, depending on temperature and humidity. We tell you the exact cure time for your day.
Parking Lot Striping
Can you stripe right after sealcoating?
Yes — after the sealcoat cures (usually 24–48 hours), striping bonds cleanly to the fresh surface. We schedule them together to save a trip.
How long until the paint is dry?
Traffic-grade paint is typically dry to traffic in 30–60 minutes depending on temperature and humidity.
Do you handle ADA compliance and fire lanes?
Yes. We stripe accessible stalls, access aisles, fire lanes and crosswalks to current code and can review your layout for compliance.
Still have a question?
Call and ask. We are happy to talk through your project with no obligation.
