Why most retaining walls fail
It is almost never the block. Walls fail because water gets trapped behind them. Saturated soil is dramatically heavier than dry soil and it pushes until something gives. Every wall we build gets a compacted base below frost, clean gravel backfill, drain tile and a daylighted outlet.
If your existing wall is leaning, bulging or cracking, do not cap it and hope. We can assess whether it can be repaired or needs a rebuild.

Beyond roughly four feet, most jurisdictions expect engineering. We build to code and bring in an engineer when height or surcharge requires it.
Can a wall solve my drainage problem?
Sometimes. Often it is paired with grading and a French drain. We look at the whole water path, not just one spot.
